Beer Bread

This vegetable soup is simply chicken stock, water, rosemary, chopped tomato and green bell pepper. As it was a late night meal, I wanted it soft and easy on my stomach, but next time I will add black pepper.

Now for the bread! I do not often bake, so things like butter and yeast are not often directly available to me. Something that always seems to be kept in stock, however, is beer. And apparently you can bake perfectly fine bread using beer!

All you need is a can of beer, flour, baking powder, honey and salt. Here is the recipe I followed. The bread feels a little heavy and the crust a bit hard, but the inside is really soft even days later. Lovely to dip in your soup or tea, with or without butter or melted cheese. I tried spreading cream cheese on it and dipping in Earl Grey tea, and it was great.
